Hero Maker

WE ALL WANT TO BE A HERO. FEW UNDERSTAND THE POWER OF BEING A HERO MAKER. THE PROBLEM WITH BEING A HERO IS YOU TAKE THE SPOTLIGHT FROM OTHERS. JESUS WANTS US TO THINK DIFFERENTLY. JESUS CALLS US TO FOCUS ON OTHERS INSTEAD OF OURSELVES. EMPOWERING OTHERS FOR THE BUILDING OF GOD’S KINGDOM IS THE CALL THAT WE HAVE RECIVED FROM JESUS. LET’S DO THAT.

Typically, we all want to be the hero. The problem with being the hero is you take the spotlight from others. Jesus wants us to think differently. Jesus calls us to focus on others instead of ourselves. Martha thought she was right but Jesus encouraged her to think differently about the situation and embrace a new perspective.

Jesus didn’t come to take center stage.  Jesus came to empower his ecclesia, his church.  Jesus tells the disciples that they will do even greater things than he.  Jesus activates his disciples and his church to live fully for him recognizing that we are not in it to win it.  We are in it to serve.

King David came from humble beginnings. Called and anointed by God but not given the opportunity to shine. David’s brothers tried to hold him back but Saul gave David permission to try. David slew Goliath and Israel was victorious. When we give others permission it takes the spotlight off of us but if we are hero makers their success is our success.

How can we change the question of what can I give rather than what do I get? When Jesus empowers his church it is for the purpose of building the Kingdom of God. The in-breaking of God’s Kingdom has begun and Jesus sends us. We also build and grow the kingdom at this moment. We have all that we need. Jesus didn’t create pastors to tell the church what to do, he created the church to listen to him and do what he asks. Kingdom power is based on service and how we can give everything for Jesus.
